Summer concert 2025

Ormskirk Music Society’s Summer Concert at St John the Baptist Church in Burscough was a resounding success, delighting audiences with a stunning programme that celebrated the majesty of the sea. The orchestra opened with Mendelssohn’s dramatic Hebrides Overture ‘Fingal’s Cave’, evoking the power and mystery of the Scottish coastline. This was followed by Henry Wood’s spirited Fantasia on British Sea Songs, and Haydn Wood’s evocative The Seafarer, both pieces capturing the essence of maritime adventure. Eric Fogg’s Sea Sheen added a contemporary touch, conjuring the beauty of the ocean. Both choir and orchestra joined forces to perform Stanford’s Songs of the Fleet, featuring the exceptional soloist Connor Cobb. His powerful voice brought a moving depth to the maritime themes, leaving the audience captivated by the performance. The concert was a perfect blend of instrumental and choral music, showcasing the talent and dedication of Ormskirk Music Society’s performers.
