Christmas Carol Concert – 14 December 2019

Ormskirk Music Society’s Family Christmas Carol Concert

Nothing gets you in the mood for Christmas quite like a concert of carols and festive melodies set in a church replete with holly and tinsel, and a spread of mince pies and wine.  All this and more is on offer at the Ormskirk Music Society’s annual Christmas Carol concert at St John the Baptist Church in Burscough, starting at 7.30pm on Saturday 14th December.

Among the seasonal treats, the orchestra will be drawing on a selection of well-loved pieces from the ballet Coppelia by Leo Delibes.  The famous Mazurka, the Waltz of the hours, Dance of the Automata and the Czardas tell a wonderful story of the doll who seemingly springs to life to the great delight of its creator, Dr. Coppelius.  The orchestra will also perform Berlioz’ The Shepherd’s Farewell as well as a fun selection of light music pieces that includes The Trapeze Waltz and Ronald Binge’s High Stepper.

Naturally, there will be opportunities for the audience to join in with some of their favourite carols, but there will also be the chance to sit back and be entertained by our choir, who will be performing a trio of John Rutter pieces, including the Shepherd’s Pipe Carol.

No Christmas concert would be complete without a dash on Leroy Anderson’s ever- popular Sleigh Ride – so join us for this festive occasion and share with us the spirit of Christmas.

Tickets are available online at: ticketsource.co.uk/ormskirk-music-society, or on the door priced at £10, £5 for children. For more information, visit ormskirkmusicsociety.org.uk.  Price includes refreshments: mince pies, wine, juice.
