Music is all about coming together to play to sing and to socialise with others. We also exist to share that music with our communities. It goes without saying that these priorities have had to take a back seat this year due to the ongoing pandemic. Today’s news of the approval of the Pfizer vaccine offers a glimmer of hope of a world where COVID is no longer in the driving seat. It will be a long way back but we stand ready to get our instruments and voices out there as soon as we can safely do that.
In the meantime we have continued to rehearse via Zoom each week, orchestra on Thursday evenings, choir on Fridays. It has been an absolute joy to see members taking to the virtual medium and connect with each other in what has become bizarrely standard for many in 2020.
We’ve also held virtual quiz and performance evenings via YouTube plus watchalong events that have helped to keep our Society burning brightly, albeit in ways none of us had ever contemplated.
So. We’re still here. We’ll be back again stronger than ever. If you play or sing and would like to try us out, Zoom rehearsals offer a great way of getting stuck in, even when you’re…stuck in!
